10th ANNUAL USTA/URSULA BECK PRO TENNIS CLASSIC

DECATUR, IL – The USTA has awarded wild card entries to three area tennis players for the 10th annual USTA/Ursula Beck Pro Tennis Classic. University of Illinois Men’s Tennis member Roy Kalmanovich received the men’s single wild card while fellow teammate Marek Czerwinski and his partner Sean Ragee-Nelson received the men’s double wild card. Kalmanovich, a sophomore from Farmington, Massachusetts, defeated Wake Forest All-American Todd Paul in the first round of the ATP Pilot Penn in New Haven and was a member of the New England USTA Junior Davis Cup team. U of I sophomore, Czerwinski, captured the Florida state doubles title as a junior and was a finalist as a senior, also during his junior play he was ranked No. 32 nationally in Boys 16s and reached as high as No. 13 in the nation in Boys 18s. Czerwinski’s doubles partner Sean Ragee-Nelson, a senior at Western Illinois University, is a Decatur, IL native and has served as a tennis instructor this summer for the Decatur Park District. The 2008 Men’s $10,000 Futures event will begin with first round play on Tuesday, July 29 and conclude on Sunday, August 3.
